Mădălina Florea is a Romanian born Dutch linguist whomade her debut as a poet with a bilingual - Romanian and English - volumeentitled “Poems with Survivor”. Her poetry is inspired by her life as a child and asa young woman in communist Romania, by her experience as an immigrant to theNetherlands, and also by several deeply impactful events out of which she feelsshe has grown wiser, more loving and more respectful to herself and theuniverse.
Mădălina is a graduate of the University of Bucharestwhere she read English and Turkish Languages and Literatures, and theUniversity of Amsterdam where she received a dual M.A. degree in GeneralLinguistics and Teaching English. Mădălina is passionate about languagelearning and language teaching. She speaks Romanian, English, Dutch, Turkish,Spanish, French and German, teaches the first four languages, and also writespoetry in them. Mădălina has had a varied international workexperience which represents her quest for the deeper meaning of communication.She worked as a newsreader and as a researcher on ethnic issues in Romania; asa policy maker on women’s issues and development cooperation in the Netherlandsand as an adviser on education and communication issues internationally. She currently works as a teacher of English at the grammarschool Felisenum in Velsen-Zuid and runs her own company Walzando in Amsterdam.She coaches teachers, students, policy makers and politicians in communicationand intercultural skills.
